Swiss Historical Village offers free admission for military families

NEW GLARUS - During 2016, the Swiss Historical Village and Museum, 612 7th Ave., New Glarus, will be one of more than 50 sites in Wisconsin to offer free admission to military personnel and their families as part of the Blue Star Museums program.

Blue Star Museums - a partnership of the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and more than 2,000 museums across the U.S. - will offer free admission to all active-duty military personnel with an ID and five of their immediate family members from Memorial Day through Labor Day this year. The complete list of participating museums and a map to help with visit planning is available at www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums.

Active-duty military include Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, active-duty National Guard and active-duty Reserve members.

This is the sixth year that the Swiss Historical Village and Museum has participated in the Blue Star Museums program.

Owned and operated by the nonprofit New Glarus Historical Society, the Swiss Historical Village and Museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week through Oct. 15.
