Swiss Center offers online catalog of museum

NEW GLARUS — On February 20, the Swiss Center of North America in New Glarus, opened public access to its online digital catalog. Featuring thousands of objects, photographs, books, and archival items, the searchable catalog grants access to the Swiss Center’s collections to people all over the world. Staff will continue to add items to the catalog over the coming years.

The Swiss Center is a 5,000-square-foot facility dedicated to educating, preserving, and celebrating the stories of the Swiss in North America. The Swiss Center opened its doors in 2008, and is the only museum in the world focused entirely on the Swiss experience in North America. Its collection includes traditional clothing and folk art, photographs, furniture, as well as the Donald G. Tritt Library and Archives which houses books and rare documents like immigrant letters and family histories.

The digital catalog is hosted by PastPerfect Museum Software, and was made possible in part through a grant from the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, which supports area arts, education, environment, health and human services and historic preservation.

Access to the online catalog is free and can be found at https://theswisscenter.catalogaccess.com/home.

Members of the public who would like to donate items to the collection can contact the Swiss Center at info@theswisscenter.org.
