Calendar

BRODHEAD — The Lower Sugar River Watershed Association is holding its annual meeting and celebration of the Three Waters Reserve from noon to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28. The Three Waters Reserve is the former Decatur Lake Golf Course, N3941 Golf Course Road, on the Sugar River.

Beginning at noon, the event will feature a hog roast of locally raised heritage pork from Riemer Family Farm served outdoors buffet style with seasonal sides prepared by local Chef Ryan Boughton. Dessert will be prepared by Chef Annie George and Molly George of Half-way Café in Brodhead.

There will be a charge for the buffet. Those who are or become LSRWA members the day of the event will eat for free.

Volunteer work will be recognized and upcoming events and activities will be shared. The Board of Directors will be elected and introduced with the 2019 Watershed Stewardship Award. The LSRWA will honor the City of Brodhead Pearl Island Recreational Corridor Committee and the Decatur Lake Mill Race Association for “Community Leadership & Dedication of Staff & Volunteers to providing stewardship of and safe access to the natural wonders of the forested floodplain and bluffland habitats of the Sugar River, Decatur Lake, and Mill Race for the enjoyment, health and wellbeing of citizens, visitors, and future generations of the Lower Sugar River Watershed.”

Following the meeting, SWLC and partners will provide tours of the property and facilities, and talk about the restoration of the land and refurbishing of the buildings that are underway.
