LA CROSSE - More than 400 of the nearly 8,800 students planning to attend the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse during the 2009-10 academic year will receive scholarships totaling more than $360,000.
The scholarships are administered through the UW-La Crosse Foundation. The Foundation typically awards about 600 scholarships valued at $540,000, but those numbers were reduced for 2009-10 because of the poor economy. Selection of recipients is based on faculty recommendations, grade-point average and other factors. Area recipients include:
Kendall Syse, Blanchardville - Louis and Ida Ebin Scholarship
Eric Johnson, Brodhead - John W. Metzger Delta Sigma Phi-Ei Endowment Fund
Jacob Boll, Darlington - William and Georgene Schmidt Scholarship Fund in Education
