Stockton Heritage Museum to hold 2026 volunteer orientation meeting April 18
Stockton Heritage Museum volunteer model train

STOCKTON — Stockton Heritage Museum will host a Volunteer Orientation Meeting for the 2026 season at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 18. The meeting will take place at the Stockton Heritage Museum, 107 West Front Street, Stockton.

This orientation and training session is for all volunteers. Those interested in being docents/museum hosts for 2026 should check their calendars before coming so they can sign up for hosting dates. Attendees will have the opportunity to take a tour of the museum, see our current exhibits, learn about future programs, and visit with other volunteers. Refreshments will be served.

The museum offers a broad range of volunteer opportunities:

● Be a museum host – Saturday & Sundays, May – October

● Schedule and coordinate volunteer hosts

● Help set up new displays

● Present a program – tell your story

● Identify and archive new additions to our collections

● Sort and file papers and documents

● Help with research projects

● Help with mailings, fold letters, stuff envelopes

● Build cool stuff for the museum

● Provide muscle — do the heavy lifting to move large items as needed

● Work on the train display

Museum staff hope to see many of its valued regular volunteers and new faces too. No experience is required and volunteer training is available. Those with a special interest or skill to share should come to the meeting on April 18. Those interested but unable to attend the meeting should call 815-947-2220 or send an email to info@stocktonheritagemuseum.org to discuss volunteer opportunities.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the organization. The museum is grateful for those who help in many ways to keep the doors of the museum open. The museum would not exist without the service and talents of volunteers.
