Stockton Heritage Museum to hold 2024 Volunteer Orientation Meeting

STOCKTON — Stockton Heritage Museum will host a Volunteer Orientation Meeting for the 2024 season at 9 a.m. on April 20 at the Stockton Heritage Museum, 107 West Front Street, Stockton. 

The orientation and training session is for all volunteers. Those interested in being museum hosts for 2024 should check their calendars before coming so they can sign up for hosting dates. Attendees will have the opportunity to take a tour of the museum, see the current exhibits, learn about future programs, and visit with other volunteers. Refreshments will be served.

The museum offers a broad range of volunteer opportunities:

●  Be a museum host — Saturday and Sundays, May through October

●  Schedule and coordinate volunteer hosts

●  Help set up new displays

●  Present a program — tell your story

●  Identify and archive new additions to museum collections

●  Sort and file papers and documents

●  Help with research projects

●  Help with mailings, fold letters, stuff envelopes

●  Build cool stuff

●  Provide muscle — do the heavy lifting to move large items as needed

●  Work on our train display

●  Run the train display — Saturday and Sundays, May through October

Museum staff hope to see many of its valued regular volunteers and new faces too. No experience is required and volunteer training is available. Those unable to attend the meeting but are still interested should call 815-947-2220 or send an email to info@ to discuss volunteer opportunities.

Stockton Heritage Museum is a not-for-profit entity dedicated to the preservation and teaching of Stockton area history. Visit the museum May-October, on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or by appointment.
