MONROE - People are invited to sample local food with a four-course harvest dinner and facilitated discussion between courses at the third and final "Stirring the Pot" event, from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17 at Congregational United Church of Christ, 201 E. 23rd St., in Brodhead.

"Our upcoming 'Stirring the Pot' event will once again bring together people who eat to enjoy and talk about food," said Tom Nelson, Coordinator of the Catholic Charities Rural Life Office who initiated this Humanities Council grant. "Our final event will showcase the bounty of the harvest and further the dialogue on gathering, preparing, serving and eating food."

Chef Steph Culberson of The Goose Chaser Farm in Blanchardville will prepare a menu of locally grown dishes that will be served including harvest soup, salad, organic pork with side dishes and individual apple tarts.

Professor Vincent Kavaloski will engage discussion regarding the "Philosophy of Food" which could include discussions on diverse topics such as food as nutrition, culture, nature, family, social good, spirituality, and something people crave.
