Step Into Better Health: Celebrate National Walking Month with Walk With Ease
ADRC

MONROE — Walking is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to improve health, enhance well-being, and boost energy levels. As National Walking Month (May) approaches quickly, there’s no better time to take part in Walk With Ease (Self-Directed), a program designed to make walking a sustainable and pain-free part of daily life.

Walk With Ease is a program created by the Arthritis Foundation to help individuals — whether they suffer from arthritis or simply want to develop a healthy habit—incorporate walking into their routines safely and effectively. The self-directed version of the program allows participants to set their own pace with the program, while still benefiting from a structured plan.

By committing to at least three walks of 10-40 minutes or more per week over a six-week period, participants can:

●  Reduce pain and discomfort from arthritis

●  Improve balance, strength, and walking speed

●  Gain confidence in their ability to stay active

●  Enhance overall health and well-being

The program includes a workbook (provided by the ADRC) that provides guidance, resources, and education, making it easy to track progress and stay motivated.

There’s no better time to take charge of your health by embracing the benefits of walking. Walk With Ease provides the tools and support needed to develop a walking routine that fits a variety of  lifestyles — helping people feel better, move more easily, and stay active for life.

Those that can stand for 10 minutes without increased pain, have a safe place to walk, and own comfortable, supportive shoes are eligible to participate. Pre-registration is required, but there are no county or state residency restrictions.

To register or learn more, contact the ADRC Green County Office at (608) 328-9499.
