South Wayne blood drive exceeds expectations

SOUTH WAYNE - The Red Cross blood drive held at Marty's Village in South Wayne May 25 went beyond expectations.

The goal was set at 28 pints. With 41 potential donors presenting, a total of 34 pints was collected with eight deferrals and three giving doubles.

Loretta Brummel reached the 14-gallon mark.

Other donors were Grant Dale, Cheryl Dale, Jack Barker, Herb Tornow, Carey Wick, James Stietz, Judith White, Steven Lenzen, Mary Kay Zemlicka, Connie Meier, Konnye Hull, Robert Hull, Tracy Williams, Suann Newingham, Richard Fernstaedt, Jack Hagen, Tom Hull, David Renkin, Gerald Leahy, Kevin Niemeyer, James Curran, Jim Meier, Sarah Renkin, Jennifer Burns, Susanne Robertson, Gary Burns, Monica Koch, Mary McKnight, Lonnie Stauffer, Ralph Johnson, Larry Moen, Tom Wellnitz, Nancy Ernzen, LaVone Liphart, Donna Wyss, Karen Signer, Travis Skattum, Al Melland, Dale Saxer and Ed Ernst.

Food donors to the canteen were Valley View Cheese, cheese; South Wayne Mart, milk; Carole Broge, sandwiches and cookies; JoAnn Crotty, cookies; Nola Haldiman, cookies; and Connie Meier, sandwiches, sausage and crackers.

Workers for the drive were Carole Broge, Loretta Brummel and Connie Meier.

The next drive at South Wayne will be Aug. 3.
