MONROE - Monroe Sons of Norway Ostestaden Lodge will meet at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at Union Presbyterian Church for movie night with snacks and beverages. The film to be shown is "A Man Called Ove."
This is a Scandinavian film about a grouchy old man who is having a hard time dealing with the loss of his beloved wife. The couple did everything together and he wants to be with her, so he is planning to "join her," but life keeps getting in the way. Every time Ove tries to take his life something goes wrong. The new neighbors need him, he has to keep his old friend out of the nursing home, a stranger needs rescuing, there is a boy who needs a home and a cat appears and attaches itself to Ove.
Despite the theme, this is a funny movie. Little by little, Ove becomes involved in a new life and becomes a new person who is too busy and too loved to die.
This event is open to the public.
