MONROE - The Sons of Norway members were invited to a bonfire Dec. 19 to "Bring Back the Sun" at the home of Pat Holstrom. In December, the earth's northern axis tilts away from the sun and leaves Wisconsin with less daylight. The day of the year with the shortest period of daylight is known as winter solstice or midwinter.

On one of the shortest days of the year in Wisconsin, Holstrom fed long tree limbs to a fire that kept everyone warm. Eventually everyone entered Holstrom's house and enjoyed chili and a meal brought by guests.
