MONROE - A Showcase of Opportunity-Kitchen Incubator Options will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Barb's Kitchen, a shared-use food processing facility.
The free roundtable discussion will focus on the production and facility issues facing entrepreneurs considering starting a food-based business. Speakers will feature food entrepreneurs who have developed their own commercial kitchens and those who are renting space at Barb's Kitchen, 710 16th St., Monroe.

Two other showcases are planned. The second Showcase of Opportunity will focus on permits, licenses and packaging issues. Greenco Industries, Inc., 1601 4th Ave. W., Monroe, will be hosting public food inspectors from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24. Learn from a licensed food packaging facility and from state public food inspectors about what permits, licenses and training are needed to operate a food-based business, and the ongoing requirements to ensure public health and the success of a business. Greenco, a non-profit organization providing day and work services for adults and teenagers with disabilities, is a FDA and USDA inspected and licensed food packaging facility.
Finally, join Business FONDUE for its first day-long workshop on branding and marketing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 10 in the Community Room of the First National Bank of Monroe. Participants will learn about how to bring a food product to market. Case studies of successful Wisconsin food business will provide insight and guidance to develop a brand positioning statement. Regional experts Janet Ady, Jim Gage and Andrea Neu will lead this workshop and be available to work with participants during the workshop to help develop these pieces of a business. This workshop includes breakfast, lunch and materials. The workshop is $20. Pre-registration is required for this day-long workshop.
Green County Business FONDUE was created through a partnership between Green County Development Corporation, UW Extension and Thrive, with a grant from the US Economic Development Administration, to guide budding entrepreneurs in their journey towards creating their very own food-based business. The initiative includes an interactive website, networking workshops, round-table discussions and links to the facilities to assist in commercializing a food product. Administered by the Green County Development Corporation, Business FONDUE is open to everyone.
