MONROE - After nearly 27 years of operation, the SHARE program will close.

The program is closing due to rising prices and changes in the market, making it harder for the program to cover the overhead expenses. It was decided to retire the program now while workers still had the resources needed to meet all of the obligations and to allow an orderly completion of the work.

Orders for May can be placed online at www.sharewi.org or through SHARE's network of host sites, beginning Friday, April 13. This will be the last chance to purchase food from SHARE and everyone is encouraged to stock up. SHARE's Mobile Market, which serves metro Milwaukee, will continue at least through June.

SHARE is a private not-for-profit organization that promotes volunteer service and helps people save money on groceries. SHARE has pick up points throughout Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, northern Illinois and northeastern Minnesota.
