MONROE — Youth ages 5 to 19 are invited to join Shakespeare on the Edge Inc. as they present Shakespeare! For Kids By Kids! at Shakespeare on the Edge, located at the Smiths Mason Lodge, 1613 1/2 10th Street, Monroe.

Shakespeare! For Kids By Kids! is offering a free, youth opportunity to learn and perform an adapted, modernized version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Shakespeare believed that his stories were for everyone. At Shakespeare on the Edge we carry on his mission, making Shakespeare for everyone, inspiring the youngest to learn and love his works while they grow in confidence. 

This is brought to youth at no cost to participants. Reading is not required. Youth and teens can audition for small, medium and large roles, as well as no speaking roles and behind the scene roles, such as set design, costuming, make-up and stage managers. Everyone who auditions will be cast.

Auditions will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Nov. 5 at Shakespeare on the Edge, located at Smith Mason Lodge, on the north side of Monroe’s downtown Square, 1613 1/2 10th Street, Monroe. Rehearsals will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Nov. 6, 9, 12, 13, 16, 19, 20, 26, 27and 29. The performance is Friday, Nov. 30 at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center.
