FORT KNOX, Ky. - Army Major Paul Ernest Gebhardt received a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The ceremony took place at Fort Knox.
Those who attended were his wife, Lori; daughters, Briar and Darian; parents, Ernest and Beverly Gebhardt; and sister, Amy Burkhalter and her daughter, Heather.
Gebhardt is a 1991 Monroe High School graduate. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, receiving the commission of 2nd Lt. from the ROTC program in 1996.
He has served in Ohio, Texas, California, Kansas, Kentucky and Afghanistan. Gebhardt is a member of the American Legion Zilmer-Riley Post No. 84 in Monroe and is currently residing at Fort Knox.
