Seniors honored at awards night

SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk Schools held its scholarship awards night on Thursday, May 17. About 23 senior students were awarded scholarships.

The class of 2012 earned just more than $55,000 in scholarship dollars with several donors/sponsors attending the awards night to present their individual scholarships.

Listed are the students who received scholarships, how much they were awarded and what they were awarded:

- Trista Cushman received a total of $2,500. She received $2,250 from Academic Excellence Scholarship for four years and $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance).

- Chaesta Shager received a total of $6,850. Shager received $100 from Black Hawk Booster Club, $100 from Black Hawk Girls Basketball, $200 from Black Hawk FFA Chapter towards a lifetime membership, $800 from Black Hawk FFA Alumni, $300 from Robin Wright Marty Memorial, $250 from Gratiot State Bank, $500 from Scenic Rivers Energies, $250 from Wiota John Deere Collector's Club, $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance), $200 from Richard McKnight Memorial, $300 from Irene Huschitt and Hans Huschitt Memorial, $250 from Woodford State Bank, $2,000 from Ervin Johnson and Phyllis Johnson Foundation, $1,000 from Badgerland Financial, $400 from Norman Leck Memorial and $150 from University of Wisconsin-Platteville Community Foundation Scholarship.

- Connor Moore received a total of $12,500. Moore received $100 from the Black Hawk Booster Club, $800 from the Black Hawk FFA Alumni, $250 from Black Hawk Dennis Murphy, $500 from Gratiot American Legion Post 177, $200 from the Gratiot VFW, $500 from Gratiot State Bank, $350 from Darlington Optimist Club, $200 from John Eckerman Memorial, $100 from Rick Wolff Memorial, $300 from Irene Huschitt and Hans Huschitt Memorial, $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance), $1,700 from Wisconsin FFA Foundation-Blain's Supply, $1,000 from National FFA Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), $2,000 from Ervin Johnson and Phyllis Johnson Foundation, $1,000 from Badgerland Financial, $500 from Frontier FS Cooperative, $1,000 from Cenex and Harvest States Coop for CHS Foundation, $250 from Lafayette County Holstein Breeders Scholarship, $500 from New Horizons Supply Cooperative Scholarship and $1000 from UW-Madison (Roger Biddick Quest).

- Katie Powers received a total of $2,350. She received $100 from Black Hawk Booster Club, $100 from Black Hawk Girls Basketball, $500 from South Wayne EMS, $100 from John Eckerman Memorial, $100 from Tina Eckerman Memorial, $350 from Green County EMS, $200 from Monroe Medical Foundation, $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance), $200 from Jeanne Miller Memorial, $250 from Woodford State Bank and $200 from BH Activity Fund.

- Myles Annis received a total of $2,100. Annis received $250 from Gratiot State Bank, $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (Attendance), $250 from Woodford State Bank, $100 from BH National Honor Society, $1,000 from Wanda Rood Memorial and $250 from James Rufenacht Memorial Sponsored by Bernita Rufenacht.

- Kayla Meier received a total of $6,800. - Kate Quinn received a total of $4,000. - Brittany Klemm received a total of $2,250. Klemm received $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance) and $2,000 from Ervin Johnson and Phyllis Johnson Foundation.

- Kyle Woodruff received a total of $1,300. He received $100 from Black Hawk Boys Basketball, $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance), $500 Cindi Kaster Memorial, $250 from Frederick C and Helen E. Rehmstedt and $200 BH Activity Fund.

- Aaron Monson received a total of $1,400. He received $100 from Black Hawk Booster Club, $800 from Black Hawk FFA Alumni, $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance) and $250 from Woodford State Bank.

- Patrick Mahoney received a total of $900. He received $100 from Black Hawk Booster Club, $100 from Warrior Wrestling Club, $200 from John Eckerman Memorial, $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance) and $250 from Frederick C. and Helen E. Rehmstedt.

- Crystal Rasch-Novak received a total of $2,050. She received $100 from Warrior Wrestling Club, $200 from Tina Eckerman Memorial, $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance) , $1,500 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (random drawing).

- Jayakya Quire received a total of $1,250. Quire received $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance) and Hawkeye Community College Achievement Scholarship for $1,000.

- Caitlin Mau received a total of $3,450. She received $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance), $750 from Monroe St. Vincent de Paul, $200 from Monroe Medical Foundation, $250 from Woodford State Bank and $2,000 from Ervin Johnson and Phyllis Johnson Foundation.

- Alaina Starr received $250 from Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance).

- Jordan Coulthard a total of $350. Coulthard received $100 from Black Hawk Boys Basketball and $250 from the Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance).

- Dejay Warrell received $200 from the Gratiot VFW.

- Ciara Staunton received a total of $800. She received $250 from Black Hawk Parent's Club, $150 from SWEEP and $400 from Gladys Leck Memorial.

- Kendra Bunnell received a total of $3,600. She received $250 Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (attendance), $1,500 for Colony Brands Career Expo/Fair (random drawing), $750 from Monroe VFW Post 2312 Ladies Auxiliary, $100 from Class of 1948 Scholarship and $1,000 from Southwest Technical College for Lenz Family Endowment Scholarship.

- Elizabeth Bauer received $200 from the Christina Folgate Memorial.

- Hayden Schliem received $100 from the Black Hawk Boys Basketball.

- Alex Gertsch received $200 from the Black Hawk Rider's Club.

- Harley French received $150 from the UW-Platteville Black Hawk Community Foundation Scholarship.
