Senior Resource Center to host February Lunch & Learn on the Rise and Fall of the American Western

The Senior Resource Center invites the community to its February Lunch & Learn featuring Dr. Andy Dvorak, who will present “The Rise and Fall of the Western as an Art Form and Moral Messenger” on Thursday, February 12, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

This engaging and thought-provoking presentation will explore the powerful role the Western played in American culture from the 1870s through the 1970s. Found in books, movies, radio programs, and television series, Western stories helped shape American values and ideals for generations. Dr. Dvorak will examine why the Western became so popular in a rapidly growing and increasingly urban America, how it rose to cultural dominance through the 1950s, and what ultimately led to its decline.

The Lunch & Learn is free and open to the public, though registration is encouraged. Attendees are welcome to bring a sack lunch to enjoy during the presentation.

The Senior Resource Center’s monthly Lunch & Learn series offers educational and cultural programs designed to spark conversation, learning, and connection for older adults and the broader community.
