Albany/Brodhead/Monroe - The Green County Senior Nutrition program, which offers congregate and home delivered meals to about 100 seniors a day, can help those who need to eat healthy for their heart.
Working with Registered Dietitian James Roche, from Nutrition and Health Associates and Pleasant View Nursing Home, the Aging and Disability Resource Center is able to offer cardiac diets to individuals either in their home or at the senior dining centers in Albany, Brodhead and Monroe. The cardiac diet limits unhealthy fats and cholesterol, as well as focuses on low-fat proteins, vegetables and fruits, whole grains and limited sodium.
The Green County Nutrition Program has been offering cardiac diets to residents for the past 10 years.
