DARLINGTON - The first day of school for the Darlington Community School District will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, with students reporting at 7:55 a.m.

Buses will run normal rural routes and will pick up city students at the swimming pool parking lot, the Darlington Municipal Building, or at Al's Trucking. The pick-up point for students at the municipal building will be at the northeast corner of the building on Wells Street.

All kindergarten through eighth grade students will report to their assigned homerooms. School personnel will be on hand to direct students to homerooms.

High school students should report to their respective homerooms; homeroom assignments will be posted. The high school will utilize the opening day schedule with class meetings at the end of the day. High school pictures will be taken Friday, Sept. 6.

Parents are reminded that the school district uses an automated lunch ticket program, and students need to have money deposited in their accounts on or before the first day of school. Students in 4K through fourth grade have a $5 book fee, and students in fifth grade through eighth grade have a $10 book fee. An optional athletic card is available for kindergarten through eighth grade levels, for $10. High school students have a required $10 book fee and $5 activity fee and an optional athletic card for $10.

Lunch monies and student fees can be paid by stopping at either office beginning Monday, Aug. 13. Students at either school may pay for fees and activity passes at that time as well. Otherwise, high school fees will be collected on picture day.
