Dr. George Breadon, M.D., Treasurer of the Green County Medical Society, recently presented six, $500 scholarships, from the Gavin Breadon Memorial Scholarship Fund, to Green County medical students. Those receiving scholarships include: Chris Kleppe, Ravi Patel, John Cappel, Bryan Simmons, Carley Zeal and Ian Stormont.
Kleppe, son of Gary and Debra Kleppe, is a 2001 graduate of Monroe High School. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006, with a double-major in genetics and bacteriology. He also graduated from Georgetown University in 2007, with a masters degree in physiology and biophysiology, and he just completed his junior year at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Midwestern University, Illinois.
Patel, son of Vasudev and Bhavana Patel, is a 2003 graduate of Monroe High School. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2007, with a degree in biological sciences and recently graduated MD from the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. He starts a residency in adult medicine at the University of Iowa, beginning July 1.
Cappel, son of Denis and Barbara Cappel, is a 2003 graduate of Monroe High School. He graduated from UW-Madison in 2007, with a degree in biomedical engineering and recently graduated MD from the Penn State Medical School, Hershey, Penn. He starts residency in dermatology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., beginning July 1.
Simmons, son of Lyle and Eunice Simmons, is a 2003 graduate of Monroe High School. He graduated from UW-Madison in 2007, with a double major in chemistry and biochemistry and recently graduated MD from the Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, N.C. He starts a residency in anesthesiology in Boston, beginning July 1.
Zeal, daughter of Thomas and Christine Zeal, is a 2004 graduate of Monroe High School. She graduated from UW-Madison in 2008, with a degree in natural sciences. She just completed her junior year at the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.
