MONROE - Applications are now being accepted for a new scholarship for Monroe students pursuing a medical school graduate program. The William C. and Margaret L. Parmer Scholarship Fund will be making its first award in the spring.

Applicants should be residents of Monroe or graduates of Monroe High School who are enrolled in an accredited medical school graduate program.

The Parmer Scholarship Fund was created by Margaret Parmer, a long-time Monroe resident, who saw a need to help medical students with the high cost of their education. Margaret Parmer's husband, William, died in 2005.

The Parmer Scholarship Fund is a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin. Applications are available at www.cfsw.org/scholarships/non-traditional-students.

The application deadline is Friday, April 18. Applications should be mailed to Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, P.O. Box 733, Monroe, WI 53566.
