ARGYLE - Jack Sauer, Darlington, and Wayne Wilson, Argyle, were recognized recently for their years of service on the Lafayette County Agriculture and Extension Education Committee. Sauer was recognized for 10 years of service and Wilson was recognized for 20 years of service. Wilson received an award June 18 at the Wisconsin Associated County Extension Committees, Inc. annual recognition ceremony in Stevens Point.
Wilson has been on the Lafayette County Board for over 24 years, serving on every committee as well as serving as chair for 14 of those years.
He also serves as president of the Village of Argyle where he resides with Marne, his wife of 43 years. Wilson is retired from the Army Reserves after 37 years of service.
He is also retired from the Wisconsin Counties Association, which he served as past president. He is a former director of the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation where he served on steering committees dealing with insurance, loss prevention and finance. Wilson has a daughter Lisa who is married and resides in Wauwatosa.
He also has a one-year old grandson named Jack, with whom he enjoys spending as much time as possible. In addition to playing with little Jack, Wilson's hobbies include hunting, fishing and part-time farming.
Sauer was first elected to the county board in Lafayette County in 1996, and served from 1996 to 2002 on the Agriculture and Extension Committee.
He was elected County Board Chairman in 2000 and served in that capacity until 2002. Sauer has also served on the Bargaining, Economic Development, Fair, Planning and Zoning, and Rails and Trails committees. He was reelected in 2004 after two years off the Board, and has served as chair since that time.
He also served on the Agriculture and Extension Committee from 2004-2008. In addition, Sauer has served on the Southwest Wisconsin Community Action Program Board of Directors.
