NEW GLARUS — The Inaugural Remember Me Red Run May 11 was a success, raising $14,000 to bring awareness to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia. There were 180 runners at Bailey’s Run Vineyard & Winery, where they ran a course past the vineyard in the scenic New Glarus countryside.

Runners and participants enjoyed live music, delicious food, wine and beer. It was also the annual launch of the winery’s Remember Me Red wine.

The event raised $14,000 for the Alzheimer’s& Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin. Todd and Janet Kuehl, owners of the winery, are motivated to help support people with Alzheimer’s because they each lost a grandparent to the disease.

“We are so grateful to the Kuehls for hosting the Remember Me Red Run and helping locals with Alzheimer’s disease, and we’re touched by this dedicated tribute to their grandparents,” said Rebecca Spindler, ADAW Events Coordinator. “People were excited to visit the beautiful winery and support the cause. Running the hills is an incredible experience!”

Proceeds from the Remember Me Red Run will be donated to programs and services to help people with Alzheimer’s and dementia in Green County. ADAW Dementia Outreach Specialists are available for local, private care consultations and resources.

Care consultations provide caregivers and families an opportunity to discuss concerns; help optimize the quality-of-life of the person challenged by cognitive impairment; and begin to build a strong network of support for the family.
