FREEPORT — Join the Royal Scots and Chamber Singers for an evening of seasonal music from around the world and across time on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. in the historic Galena United Methodist Church, 125 S. Bench St., Galena, Ill.
“Come join Highland Community College’s renowned Royal Scots and Chamber Singers for a special night of music,” said Randy Haldeman, director. “Presented in the historic Galena United Methodist Church as part of Galena’s Luminaria Night celebrations, concert-goers additionally will be bathed in the lights from the sanctuary’s 12 magnificent stained glass windows and immersed in the sounds of the restored 1880s Moline Pipe Organ.”
The Royal Scots will partner with the church choir for some musical numbers. There will be a reception after the concert in the fellowship hall. Parking will be limited as thousands of people are expected to attend downtown Galena to view the special Christmas lights.
Some of the musical numbers to be performed will include a 9thCentury Gregorian Chant, “A Light for Revelation to the Gentiles for Your Glory,” “Fanfare for Christmas Day,” “African Noel,” “All on Christmas Morning,” “Caribbean Carol,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” to name a few of the many musical selections.
The concert is free and open to the public. For more on Highland’s Fine Arts Program, visit highland.edu.
