MONTICELLO - The Roundy's Foundation provided Green Cares Food Pantry, W5198 County Road C, with a donation of 2,370 pounds of canned and dry foods, and an additional $500 check to purchase food for the pantry on Tuesday, April 8. Accepting the gift were Green Cares volunteers Bob and Marcia Voss, Butch and Nancy Stoehr, and Karl and Jeannie Blumer.
This is the third year the Roundy's Foundation has chosen Green Cares as part of its mission to fight hunger. In 2013, Green Cares served 1,165 unduplicated individuals from 383 unduplicated families. During 2013, Green Cares issued 159,000 pounds of food to families in need. Each month Green Cares provides frozen, canned and dry foods to 200 families, according to Mary Gafner, chair of Green Cares.
The pantry, operated solely by volunteers, is open from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, from 9 to noon Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, and will open for emergencies. To reserve a time or for more information, call 608-938-4238.

Since its inception, the Foundation has donated more than $7.5 million to food pantries, women's shelters and domestic violence programs throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois.
