WHITEWATER - Emily Roska, a junior music major from New Glarus, has been selected as a member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 2015-16 Jazz Ensemble I.

The audition-based group comprises 17 musicians and plays a large variety of big-band music.

The group recently played a full concert of music by Radiohead arranged for big band and in four weeks will play Duke Ellington's arrangement of Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite." The musical group has performed off campus at prominent events such as the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival in the Chicago area and the Isthmus Jazz festival in Madison. On campus, the group performs twice each semester in Light Recital Hall, often accompanied by a guest jazz artist. They also play once a semester for student swing dance events at the University Center and at the music department's holiday gala in December.
