MONROE — Thousands of students from Monroe, New Glarus, Monticello, Albany, Black Hawk, Juda and Brodhead were able to take part in presentations given by a nationally recognized team called Rise Together during the week of March 4-8.

The Rise Together team includes three drug addicts in long-term recovery who share stories and engage students and teachers on how they were able to make changes in their lives. They offer ideas for sharing difficulties that many face with those important in their lives.

A local group called F.A.I.T.H. (Fighting Addiction — It Takes Help) Addiction Awareness is responsible for bringing the Rise Together presentations to the area and helping to change lives to offer hope toward the life challenges faced by our youth. They also work closely with Green County Human Services A.O.D.A. and GUPPY (Green County United Prevention Professionals for Youth). Each August they sponsor a run/walk at the Monroe Clinic and have speakers share their story of addiction. More information on F.A.I.T.H. can be found at their Facebook page F.A.I.T.H. Addiction Awareness of Green County and on their webpage https://faithgreencounty.wixsite.com/addictionawareness.
