DARLINGTON — A historical building in Darlington received some needed repair this past week. The railing on the front steps succumbed to old age and broke at the base and near the top. The building is owned and operated as a museum of history, art, and genealogy center by the Lafayette County Historical and Genealogy Society (LCHGS), a non-profit organization.
The repair was accomplished through excellent work by Darlington Dairy Supply, which created the new stainless steel railing, and Allen Coulthard who managed the project, replaced the bottom step that was uneven and in disrepair, and installed the new railing. The result is a welcoming and safe entrance to this cherished structure.
Regular maintenance and repair is the only way to preserve the historic structures in our area. LCHGS supports all efforts to preserve county history and appreciate not only has many historic buildings, but also talented craftsmen available to ensure quality work.
