Renaissance Faire planned for Sept. 25

MONROE - The third annual Gathering of Rogues and Ruffians Renaissance Faire will be held from 10 am to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at The Piazza, W5549 Center Road.

The Renaissance Faire, sponsored by the nonprofit group Shakespeare on the Edge, offers food, fun and revelry for the whole family, including a kids' carnival with Renaissance games and prizes. Following the faire will be a candlelit performance of William Shakespeare's play, "Romeo and Juliet," by the Eclectic Rogues youth acting troupe beneath the stars on the Piazza's outdoor rock stage. Showtime begins 6:30 p.m..

A silent auction of items donated by Green County, Grant County, Iowa County, Lafayette County and Dane County area businesses will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All proceeds support the year-round programming of Shakespeare on the Edge, Inc., a non-profit organization using the art of Shakespeare to bring people together and build greater respect for self and others.

Admission to the Renaissance Faire is $2, with a $10 maximum per family. The faire will be held rain or shine. The Piazza is located at W5549 Center Road, 4 miles north of Monroe. For more information call (608) 325-5268 or www. ShakespeareontheEdge.org.
