NEW GLARUS - The Swiss Center of North America is sponsoring a youth flag throwing class from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays, starting March 12, at the New Glarus Middle School MPR room. The eight-week class is open to youth from Green County.
Flag tossing or flag throwing was brought to Green County by Robbie Schneider from Switzerland. Flag throwing has a long-standing tradition in Green County, being accompanied by the music of the alphorns, and this class passes that tradition on to the next generation.
Participants of the class will have the opportunity to show off their skills at such events as Volksfest, the Wilhelm Tell play, Harvest Fest at the New Glarus Historical Society and Cheese Days.
Contact Damion Babler at 862-3306 to register a child.
