Registration opens for Albany library program

ALBANY - Participants can register for the 2015 "Every Hero Has a Story" summer library program at the Albertson Memorial Library, 200 N. Water St., starting June 1. The program runs seven weeks, between June 21 and Aug. 8.

Programs include two scheduled Saturday baby lapsits, a weekly storytime on Friday mornings for those entering 4K and younger, a reading program for entering kindergarten through fourth-graders that includes incentive prizes and a weekly T-shirt drawing, special events for various age groups such as a children's song performer, comic crafternoons, movie showings, Lego Mindstorm robotics, Local Heroes Visit the Library, and two finale astronomy programs. There is also a planned speaker for adults about the life of Amelia Earhart.

Registration online goes live on Monday and runs through June 18, or register in person at the library between these same dates. Registration for reading programs is required; it is optional but appreciated for special events.

The first scheduled event is a kickoff program by performer Duke Otherwise called "Clever Songs and Inspiring Fun" at 2 p.m. June 19.
