DARLINGTON - Jennifer Redell, conservation biologist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources' Bat Program, will discuss her studies of backyard bats at 7 p.m. Monday at the Bluebird Nest Nature Center, 308 Main St., Darlington.
The event will be a learning opportunity for children and adults, covering topics like the latest white-nose syndrome findings and the role of bats in our environment.
The second event for May will be an exploration of Christine and Howie Hill's restored oak savannah near Yellowstone Lake State Park. Participants will meet at and carpool from Casey's in Darlington at 6:30 p.m. May 21.
It will be a journey into Wisconsin's past, as the Hills have spent 13 years restoring their 80 acres to the way it was before the settlers came. Those attending should take binoculars for bird watching.
For more information, call 608-776-2290 or check Lafayette County Bluebird Society's website: lafayettecountybluebirdsociety.wordpress.com.
Children are welcome to attend both events. Children under 12 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Refreshments will be provided. There is no charge for either program.
