MONROE - "Goin' for B'roque" is the theme for the next in a series of quarterly organ mini-recitals called Midday Masterworks, scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 at the United Methodist Church of Monroe, and repeated the same day at 5:30 p.m. at Monroe's St. Victor Catholic Church. The program will feature music for organ from the Baroque period by Buxtehude, Janitsch, J.S. Bach and Pachelbel. The program includes the last piece Bach, while on his deathbed, dictated to his son-in-law, as well a a transcription of Pachelbel's well-known "Canon in D".

Free and open to the public, the half-hour programs are played by Deborah Krauss Smith, organist and director of music at St. John's UCC in Monroe. The 2011 year marks Midday Masterworks' tenth season.
