MONROE — Rebekah Rath from Monroe High School in Monroe was selected to take part in the Foundation for Teaching Economics “Economics for Leaders” program.
This program is a week-long summer institute that teaches students how to integrate economics into the process of decision-making in a hands-on, experiential environment.
The Foundation for Teaching Economics selects professors and leadership instructors based upon their expertise and teaching effectiveness to lead the programs. The morning sessions include discussions, activities, and interactive sessions that introduce students to the “economic way of thinking.” The afternoon sessions create simulations that build an understanding of leadership, and participants practice leadership skills in a fun-filled series of tasks and dilemmas.
The goal of EFL is to give promising students the skills to be more effective leaders and to teach them how to employ economic analysis when considering difficult public policy choices. The Foundation for Teaching Economics is committed to finding and nurturing budding leaders.
