BROOKLYN — StillPointe, located at N9392 Legler Road in Brooklyn, will host “Radical Wholeness” with Philip Shepherd, renowned author and founder of the Embodied Process.
“Radical Wholeness” is for people tired of chaos and curious about the vast intelligence and order of one’s own body in its own right, and as an immediate respite in the tumble of this transitioning world.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, Shepherd explores how the current strategy of living in your head is exhausting; and how to develop awareness of the body’s intelligence as a trustworthy means to living well. You will be introduced to a series of simple and unique practices to come into contact with your own habits of ‘disembodiment’, and the recognition of how those patterns might be limiting you. And you learn a set of skills for awareness that will serve you a lifetime.
Philip Shepherd is a Teacher in our time; a teacher for our Time. Advocating harmony rather than control, Shepherd suggests a way out of the incendiary unsustainability of many of the systems in our culture and world.
“We have been encouraged to neglect the body, live in our heads, and undertake a desperate agenda of trying to outthink our circumstances”, Shepherd said.
Consistent with the ancient teachings of philosophy, religion, and history, Shepard’s message is alive in a solid body before us and an original voice vibrating around us. He is author of New Self, New World, and Radical Wholeness, and co-author of Deep Fitness with Yakovenko. His message about the revolution to come is succinctly illuminated in The Embodiment Manifesto.
StillPointe is a place of light, space and quiet; a destination for learning human potential through simple and conscious movement, and a retreat location. StillPointe in Brooklyn is a studio with a dance deck and a labyrinth crowning a gentle hill on 30 acres.
Kathleen Conklin, founder of StillPointe and PilateSpa International, is author of Wee Small Stretch Book, Who Breathes, and Centric 6, A Cue Book. She has a patent on the Conscious Body Mat. She teaches conscious breathing and intelligent movement at StillPointe.
Meals and accommodations are not included in the two-day workshop of “Radical Wholeness”. Participants are encouraged to find accommodations in nearby towns of Paoli and Verona, New Glarus, or Oregon, or reserve a tent on the grounds at StillPointe. Some light refreshments will be available.
