BELOIT - Congregation B'nai Abraham will celebrate Passover with the ceremonial Seder dinner on Thursday, April 9, on the Beloit College campus.

Passover is the major Jewish spring festival that commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. In Rabbi Shlomo Wing's Passover message to the congregation, he reminded members to think about people in need during the Passover holiday and donate to Caritas, ECHO or other community organizations.

"Let us reflect on the message of freedom that Passover teaches," said Wing, who will conduct the Seder. "Once we were slaves and had nothing, but now we are free people. ... Freedom has helped us become prosperous, but we should never allow ourselves to forget that there have been times when we depended on the generosity of others to survive."

The public is invited to the Seder dinner on April 9 in the Moore Lounge at Pearsons Hall on the Beloit College campus.

The doors will open at 5 p.m. with dinner at 5:30 p.m. The menu includes soup, roasted chicken, brisket, tzimmes, vegetable and desert. For synagogue members, the cost is $19.50 for adults and $9 for children 13 and younger. For non-members, the cost is $26 for adults and $13 for children.

To make reservations, mail the names of adults and children who will be attending along with payment to Congregation B'nai Abraham, 2400 Oxford Lane, Beloit, WI 53511. Be sure to include a phone number and state whether you are congregation member. The deadline for reservations is Saturday, April 4.
