Pretzel Fest returns April 25

FREEPORT — Downtown Freeport will come alive on April 25 as the Greater Freeport Partnership hosts its annual Pretzel Fest, featuring a full day of family-friendly activities, community celebration, and a brand-new, record-breaking event: The Great Pretzel Bite.

The Great Pretzel Bite will kick off the day’s festivities, with participant sign-in beginning at 10 am in downtown Freeport. All participants must be signed in to receive their commemorative button and pretzel before gathering for the main event. At 10:30 a.m., the crowd will come together for the official “bite,” taking a synchronized bite of their pretzels in an effort to create a record-breaking, community-wide moment in Pretzel City USA. The goal: to create a memorable, moment full of Pretzel Pride.

Running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Pretzel Fest will bring residents and visitors together in the heart of downtown to celebrate the mascot, the snack food, and all things Freeport. Attendees can enjoy a lively, welcoming atmosphere filled with local flavor, entertainment, and activities designed for all ages.

“After last year’s amazing record-breaking success, the energy and commitment to all things pretzel is apparent. But this event is about more than just pretzels,” said Greater Freeport Partnership Main Street Manager Katie Gentz. “It’s about bringing people together, creating shared experiences, and celebrating what makes Freeport special.”

Organizers encourage families, friends, and neighbors to come downtown, grab a pretzel, and be part of a moment that highlights community spirit in a fun and meaningful way.

Following Pretzel Fest, the celebration will continue with Polka Fest from 3-6 p.m. at the Freeport Masonic Temple Ballroom hosted by the Lincoln Douglas Society, keeping the energy going with music, culture, and opportunities to gather and connect.

With free programming and a focus on community participation, the day is designed to create lasting memories while supporting downtown businesses and reinforcing Freeport’s unique identity.

Community members are encouraged to explore downtown, and take part in this one-of-a-kind celebration.
