MONROE — The Monroe Arts Center is grateful to be the recent recipient of the Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Fund for Historic Preservation through the Monroe Funds Spring 2025 Grant Cycle. This grant is supporting MAC’s project —  Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall Ceiling, Roof & Exterior Door Repair and is made available through the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc., a resource for area nonprofit organizations whose programs and services are working for the betterment of our communities. Grants from the Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Fund for Historic Preservation of the Monroe Fund have supported the arts, education, environment, health and human services and historic preservation.

Coplien Painting, Inc. began the restoration of MAC’s exterior doors this fall, carefully sanding the deteriorated varnish away and coating it with a new protective sealant to preserve the doors on MAC’s Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall. MAC’s historic spaces are also being refurbished with the help of Renaissance Historic Exteriors.

Work on the roof of Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall began on Oct. 28 and will help ensure this acoustically cherished space continues to excite audiences for years to come.

“We are truly grateful for this grant from the Reasa Fund and to Coplien Painting and Renaissance Historic Exteriors for their work at MAC this fall. These partnerships allow us to make sure we are keeping our historic campus in good repair for generations to come,” said Executive Director Marie Perry.

The Monroe Arts Center — now in its 51st year, stands as a community gem for the arts in southern Wisconsin, inviting all to experience the arts. There has been so much caring support over the years to MAC, the award of this Reasa grant is a wonderful tribute to the work done over many generations to support the arts in Monroe.
