MONROE - The staff at Monroe Municipal Pool celebrated the summer at their annual banquet with a "Hawaiian" theme.

Several awards were given based on voting by the lifeguards, and the children at the pool voted for the "Kids' Favorite."

Barb Moser received an "Above and Beyond" award in recognition of her 35 summers as the "Pool Lady." Kylie Houston was voted by the children as "Kids' Favorite." Allie Coplien tied with Cameron Shaw for the "Shining Star" award for their willingness to help whenever needed and bringing joy to the pool. Lizzy Dale was awarded "Lifeguard of the Year" for her display of leadership and dedication to the pool this year. Alex Tordoff received the "Cool, Calm and Collected" award because of his ability to stay cool and calm in any situation. Matt Coplien was awarded the "Spark Plug" as he has a little more pep and pizzazz than the rest and a positive attitude, is a motivator and always is smiling. Grace Moehn earned the "Rookie of the Year" award as the new employee who did an outstanding job throughout the season. "Above and Beyond" recognition went to Haley Kaiser for going above and beyond in her duties as lifeguard and planning the special event at the pool, and to Linda Moser and Tyler Moser for their efforts to get the UW Band to perform at Barb's Badger Bash. Anna Meritt received the "Attitude Plus" award because of her good attitude and positive outlook.

The outdoor pool will close for the year Sunday. That will be Barb Moser's final day after working 35 summers at the Monroe Pool.
