MONROE - Several of Rita Farris' Green County piano students won 2016 Gold Cup trophies during the Federation of Music Festival held during the spring in Janesville.

Students auditioned in memorized solos, hymn playing or sight playing.

In order to qualify for the trophy, a student must earn 15 points. Points are based on the successful performances of two memorized solos, hymns or sight-played pieces and range from one to five points annually. After earning one trophy, students may work for additional trophies.

The trophies were presented May 1 at a recital at the Monroe Arts Center.
