MONROE — SSM Health Monroe Hospital Inpatient Nursing Assistant, Catherine Pfeiffer, has been named the newest recipient of the BEE Award, the hospital announced in a press release.
The BEE Award was created to recognize any non-nursing staff members who demonstrate excellent quality care, extraordinary compassion, focus on the patient and the patient’s needs and effective collaboration with other members on the patient care team.
Catherine was nominated by three different patients. According to one patient: “I was hospitalized with COVID-19 and Pneumonia on Valentine’s Day for 5 days. Since I was in a COVID-19 room, I was in isolation and very scared. Catherine would come in and talk to me and help me with everything. She would always do it with a smile and no matter how many times I rang the call button, she never made me feel like I was taking too much of her time. It was a very lonely and scary time and she did all that she could to try to help me heal and make me less anxious. Catherine truly went above and beyond any expectations and I am truly thankful for her during an especially dark period for me. She gave me encouragement and support when I needed it most. She is truly a blessing to her patient.”
SSM Health Monroe also is asking the community to help spotlight the extraordinary contributions of their staff, like Catherine, by nominating them for the BEE Award. Nomination forms are online at www.monroeclinic.org/beeaward.
