Pet costumes can yield some green on St. Pat's Day

MONROE - People can dress up dog or cat for St. Patrick's Day, and possibly win a cash prize.

The costume contest to benefit the Green County Humane Society will be March 17, in conjunction with the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade around Monroe's Square.

Anyone interested in "putting on the dog" for the parade should line up in the street next to Suisse Haus at 5 p.m. The parade begins at 5:17 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded following the parade in the Minhas parking lot.

Prizes will be: first place, $100; second place, $50; and third place, $25. Anyone who does not have a dog but wants to compete is welcome to use a shelter dog. More information is available by contacting Sherri Fiduccia at 328-2100.

The humane society events continue at the Roadhouse, 1001 30th St. Come celebrate St. Patrick's Day, and the Roadhouse will donate a percentage of the cost of each meal to the Green County Humane Society.

The evening will feature corned beef and cabbage (as well as regular menu items), green beer, Irish drink specials, games and prizes for children, a 50/50 raffle and DJ John McNeil spinning tunes from 7 to 11 p.m.

Bring a dog/cat toy, collar or leash to donate to the GCHS.
