Performance takes fair to the 'Edge'

MONROE - A schedule of performances for Monroe's annual Fair on the Square is starting to take shape, including a 1:30 p.m. Saturday stage performance of Shakespeare on the Edge. Other scheduled events include: 2-2:30 p.m. Greg Bowles and students martial arts performance; 3:30 p.m. Monroe High School Dance Team performance. The Fair, sponsored by Main Street, takes place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, on Monroe's historic downtown Square.

Throughout the day there will also be a petting zoo and dog obedience demonstrations. The regular farmer's market, Market on the Square will be held just two blocks of the Square at the Monroe Middle School Saturday morning. The Fair also includes a variety of food stand concessions, live entertainment and a beer tent, sponsored by the Green County Humane Society.
