MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department has a new exercise class and a new instructor starting in February at Behring Senior Center.
Shannan Kaiser will be leading "Total Body Fitness," a class designed to improve fitness and overall health. Kaiser is certified in a variety of fitness classes and has worked in the fitness industry for several years. This mother of four loves to inspire and motivate others to be their best selves. The class will be from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays for ages 18 and older.
Mondays will focus on core strength and stretching for low-impact exercises and stretches to improve posture, body alignment, flexibility and balance.
Wednesdays will be calorie-burning cardio circuits that combine cardio and strength exercise to develop muscle endurance, improve cardiovascular ability and burn calories. The program will be moderate- to high-intensity level with modifications available.
Classes will run in continuous 13-week sessions with the next session nheld from Feb. 5 through May 2. There is a fee.
