MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department still has openings in the one-day program Basketball with the Cheesemakers and in Basketball Camp.
If participants wish to register in person, note that the office temporarily has moved to the Streets and Sanitation Department, 1064 5th Ave., across the street from the new PDC building. Online registration also is available.
Register as soon as possible to make sure children receive a T-shirt for the programs. For both programs, children can ride any bus from Parkside, Northside, St. Victor and Monroe Middle schools. Children from Abraham Lincoln Elementary School can walk; someone will be there to help them.
The one-day program will be from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Monday at the Monroe High School practice gym. The cost is $10. Everyone will receive a Campion's Champion T-shirt sponsored by the Monsignor Thomas Campion Charitable Fund. The program is open to anyone in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Basketball Camp is for second- through sixth-grade boys and girls, who will be split into smaller groups based on how many register. It will be run on early dismissal Mondays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Jan. 16 and 30 and Feb. 6, 13 and 20. There is no school Jan. 23, so there will be no camp that day. The camp will be at the MHS practice gym. Children should enter the M-room doors and meet in M-room first. The cost is $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents and includes a T-shirt.
