JUDA - The Rev. Tom Miller of the Juda: Zion and Oakley: Union United Methodist Churches has announced that the subject of his Lenten messages will be the parables of Jesus. The 45 minute services will be held at the Juda church, on the corner of Church and Walnut Streets, at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday during Lent (Feb. 25, March 4, 11, 18, 25, and April 1).

"Jesus never talked about butchers and bakers and candle-stick makers," Miller said, "but His parables are full of observations of working people in their daily lives. Some of them have become part of our language, such as the Good Samaritan and the Prodigal Son. We hope to learn their lessons in order to become better disciples of Christ."

Miller, who has served the Oakley and Juda churches for eight years, is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Bible and the Theological Seminary of the Reformed Episcopal Church. He has also pastored churches in Florida, Ontario and Pennsylvania besides serving as a seminary professor, prison chaplain and denominational official.
