MONROE - This week, businesses and individuals throughout Monroe will "paint our town purple" to celebrate cancer survivorship and bring attention to the American Cancer Society's annual "Relay For Life," which will be held on Saturday at the Monroe High School track.
To participate, area homeowners, restaurateurs or retail business operators/owners, can paint the town purple this week with various ideas, including:
Decorating homes or store windows with a purple display.
Displaying a purple yard sign in the front yard.
Decorating front entrance, fences or doors with purple balloons.
Painting porch lights purple or inserting a purple bulb.
Tie purple ribbons around trees in the neighborhood.
Wear purple clothing while at work.
Turning town landmarks purple.
Decorating the exterior of the City Hall purple.
