NEW GLARUS - The Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park will host a program about owls of Wisconsin and a night hike for those interested in learning more about the habitat and habits of owls. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31.

The family-oriented outdoor program will begin with a bonfire at the New Glarus Woods State Park picnic area by the park entrance. Steve Johnston, park manager, and Brad Bates, assistant manager, will present an interactive and interpretive program with hands-on demonstrations. Then families can go for a night hike along trails lit by luminaries in search of owls and listen for their calls.

Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and bring lawn chairs for the playground and bonfire.

The Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park is a non-profit group that helps promote awareness of the New Glarus woods. New members are encouraged. More information is available by contacting Dunnell Kendrick-Parker, president, at (608) 527-2335 or visiting www.newglaruswoods.org.

The event is free; parking in the state park requires either a daily admission sticker or an annual Wisconsin Park sticker.
