MONROE — Monroe Sons of Norway volunteers pick up several bags full of trash along Wisconsin 81 three times a year. These bags are then picked up by county vehicles. Volunteers plan to be out again on Earth Day.

Plastics are some of the most commonly littered items. They are useful and have made our lives much easier, but plastic pollution is a negative effect on our environment.

Aluminum cans are another litter problem. Aluminum is hard to make and easy to recycle. We need to recycle aluminum.

How can someone help? Keep trash bags in vehicles. Recycle aluminum cans and plastic bottles and dispose of trash appropriately.
