MONROE — The American Red Cross has an emergency need for blood and platelet donations to help end a summer blood shortage.

Make an appointment to donate blood now by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device. Those who donated blood earlier this summer may be eligible to give again. Blood can be safely given every 56 days, and Power Red donations can be given every 112 days.

Argyle: from 1 to 6 p.m. Aug. 22 at the American Legion, 101 Wood St.

Monroe: from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Monroe Bible Church, 2613 8th Ave. and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hope Evangelical Free Church, 2902 13th St.

Albany: from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Lions Building, 402 Cincinnati St.

New Glarus: from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sept. 7 at the New Glarus Area EMS, 401 3rd St.

Brodhead: from 12 to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Congregational United Church of Christ, E201 23rd St.
